Susan DiMeo
Brand Director
As a seasoned fashion industry veteran, CHARLEY 5.0 is the earmark of Susan DiMeo’s 10th anniversary of working in the Industry. From the young age of three when she would parade around in her mothers high heels, all fashion-from clothing and shoes to accessories has always been her first love. It can be said that it is ingrained in her DNA, her father having immigrated to the United States from Italy in search of the American Dream, landed his first job in NYC as a Production Manager for Pierre Cardin. Passed down to Susan was his keen eye and attention to detail, fit and quality of a garment. Susan’s career began as a Sales Assistant at Laundry by Shelli Segal, where within 6 months she was promoted to Account Executive, managing all East Coast Specialty accounts for Sportswear and Dresses; she then progressed into multi-line showroom sales, managing the sales of upwards of 10 showroom lines. In 2005, DiMeo joined the Koral team to launch LaROK – the contemporary item driven line that is greatly appreciated by many celebrities. Also under her tutelage was the successful launch of LaROK kids. Recently, she partnered with Salt Works to head their Private Label Development Department. One month into her new career, Susan spearheaded the conception of a new line and partnered with NY stylist Marcy Feldman to create and launch CHARLEY 5.0.
Yalenis Cepeda
Head Designer
Yalenis’ first designs were at the age of 10, where she made dresses for Barbie because the ones she came with weren’t pretty enough. Some girls were playing in the sand box, but Yalenis’ passion was putting together pieces of fabric to create the ultimate party dress. That fire continued on into her high school years, when her girlfriends asked her to make their prom dresses. It was only natural that after completing high school she went on to study at FIT. Her first internship was with Nautica, where she worked with the graphic design team for denim and helped with color and washes. Upon graduation, she interned with Koral Industries and worked with the design team to develop the very first LaROK collection, which debuted in 2004. She was then hired as assistant designer and helped develop trim, color palette, and everything and anything related to fabric. In 2007 Koral Industries launched the brand Elizabeth and James. Yalenis then became responsible for all fabric sourcing for LaROK and Elizabeth & James. She also assisted with the planning and styling for both LaROK and Elizabeth & James look books. She has been a wardrobe stylist on set for numerous music videos, short independent films and photo shoots. In addition to designing for CHARLEY she is also the personal stylist to up and coming music artist Mayaeni.
